Shopify or Big Cartel

Big Cartel is another ecommerce platform that provides quick and easy way to open an online store. Some say they love it because it’s so easy to setup. Big Cartel costs less than Shopify. The plans range free to $29.99 per month and unlike Shopify, there is no percentage fee off sales. The main drawback of Big Cartel is that you can only use PayPal for payment gateway. Other issue is the limit in SKU. 300 products is the limit for the highest $29.99 plan.

Big Cartel’s site says “Bringing the art to the cart” and the page title (what you see at the top of brewer) says, “Big Cartel – Simple shopping cart for artists, designers, bands, record labels, jewelry, crafters”. These statements were not what I expected to see, but it makes me smile. I feel the spirit and mission behind this. It’s great that something like this is available.
